The Terracotta-themed Tourism Village Design Competition is one of the series of community
service activities organized by the Bandung Institute of Technology’s School of Architecture Planning and Policy Development (SAPPK ITB) and Bandung Institute of Technology’s Research and Community Service Organization (LPPM ITB). This activity has the objective “Architectural Construction in Public Spaces with the Themed Creative Culture of Clay with a Cultural Capital Approach and Space
Production, Case Study: Public Spaces in the Tile Industrial Area in West Java (Jatiwangi – Majalengka) and in Central Java (Sokka – Kebumen)”, therefore LPPM ITB invited APTARI, Jatiwangi Art Factory, Logede Village, and the Kebumen Regency Government to work together in this competition. After going through the registration process, which began on Monday, August 1, 2022, until the presentation and judging schedule was postponed on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, the winner was
announced on Friday, December 2, 2022, via Zoom Meeting. From the dozens of student groups that registered, six winners were selected. The first place was won by a team consists of five students from the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University batch 2019, namely:
1. Gunawan Wicaksono (Department of Architecture)
2. Reviyana Atika Ranti (Department of Architecture)
3. Rinaldo Diyan Santoso (Department of Architecture)
4. Shaista Azhar Azizah (Department of Architecture)
5. Jasmine Khairani (Department of Urban and Regional Planning)
The design that has been created is considered the most practical to be realized by Logede Village and the
Kebumen Regency Government. The jury participated in this competition, namely:
1. Dr. Agus Suharjono Ekomadyo, Head of ITB Community Service Program for Terracotta Village
2. Dr. Yulianto P. Prihatmaji, IPM, IAI., Lecturer in Architecture at the Indonesia Islamic University
(UII) and Chair of the Association of Indonesian Architectural Colleges (APTARI)
3. Ginggi Syar Hasyim, Jatiwangi Art Factory (JAF) Activist
4. Imdad Durohman, S.E., Head of Logede Village
Moreover, This design competition was held for several purposes, such as capturing ideas for
developing tourism villages, obtaining terracotta product innovations that could be developed and used,
and obtaining built environment designs that are capable of supporting the development of tourism
villages and utilizing innovative products in Logede Village. As mentioned in the judging session, the
design created by the winner will be realized by Logede Village and the Kebumen Regency Government
in mid-February 2023.
