Kedaireka Matching Fund Program in 2024, by a team of Universitas Diponegoro lecturers from 3 different Study Programs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Erni Setyowati, MT (Department of Architecture, FT – UNDIP), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Silviana, ST, MT, IPM., ASEAN Eng. (Department of Chemical Engineering, FT – UNDIP) and Ardiaz Ajie Aryandika, S.Kom,.MBA (Digital Business, FEB – UNDIP) entitled “Downstreaming of Hexa Flower Ceramics – Hexa Batik Through TKDN Certification and Optimization of Digital Marketing for Marketing Testing” shows progress in its activities. Through collaboration between academics from UNDIP, industry partners PT. Nuansa Porselen Indonesia, and students, this program seeks to develop high value-added ceramic products that are ready to be marketed, with a focus on product downstreaming through Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification and optimization of digital marketing. One of the activities that has been implemented from this program is teaching partners through ceramic workshops by practitioners from industrial partners, Mr. Anton Hernawan, which was held in the Tridimensional Design Practicum 1 course with the theme “Clay Materiality and Its Systems.”

This workshop activity has been held twice, with the main focus on the introduction of clay materiality and its forming techniques and systems, which are fundamental aspects in the development of innovative ceramic products such as Hexa Flower and Hexa Batik. Students are introduced to clay which is connected to direct practical sessions. This activity aims to deepen their understanding of the basic properties of the material, including how these properties affect the final results of ceramic products. In this workshop, participants are invited to explore the ceramic forming process starting from material preparation, molding, to the introduction of the firing process. Various forming techniques are introduced to facilitate the creative design process and support innovation in ceramic product design.

In addition to workshop activities, the 2024 Kedaireka Matching Fund Program also provides opportunities for students to do internships at industrial partners, PT. Nuansa Porselen Indonesia. Where, students have the opportunity to be directly involved in the ceramic production process on an industrial scale, starting from raw material management to more professional finishing techniques. This activity is expected to enable students to contribute more effectively to the development of Hexa Flower and Hexa Batik products through Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification.

This program also focuses on optimizing digital marketing to increase exposure of ceramic products. With digital marketing, Hexa Flower and Hexa Batik products are expected to be known more widely by potential consumers. Digital marketing is used as a tool to test market response and collect useful feedback for product improvement. Test marketing through online platforms allows these ceramic products to reach wider consumers, including outside the local area.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Erni Setyowati, MT, as the team leader, stated, “The progress that has been achieved through workshop/teaching practitioners and industrial internship activities shows our commitment to ensuring the sustainability of downstreaming locally-based ceramic products. With the support of TKDN certification and digital marketing, we are optimistic that Hexa Flower and Hexa Batik ceramics can become superior products in their downstreaming and are able to compete in the national and international markets.”

Overall, this activity emphasizes the importance of collaboration between academics, students, and industry to create innovative products with high added value. The use of digital technology and TKDN certification are strategic steps to ensure the success of downstreaming ceramic products on a wider scale. This program not only focuses on product innovation, but also on marketing and certification aspects that support product sustainability and commercialization.
